Happy April 1st Everyone:)
As the weather rapidly changes, and we welcome the breeze and subtle sun indicative of Spring time, I am so very thankful to see this fourth month of 2016.
A couple of friends and I were chatting about how March was coming to an end, when of them quickly squirmed “this year is going fast!” I laughed because though his words ring true that time indeed does fly, this year for me doesn’t feel as fast as others have.
I have made a decision to be more reflective about my everyday encounters, and as such, I can on most days feel time, and can feel the lessons and knowledge that it is molding on my life. My hope and prayer for all of us is that we continue to feel the passage of time and that we continue to learn and grow wise with it.
For the month of March, here are 5 things that I am grateful for 🙂
1. Healing and restoration
I am on a mission to everyday practice forgiving others and to learn to forgive myself when I have done wrong. This is a process that is healing my wounds and scars, and one that is restoring me to my truth and purpose.
2. Prayer jar
My prayer jar is EVERYTHING. During this month, I went back to it to read all the prayers that I had put in there, and how much God had answered most of them:) Always on time, and working for my good. You can find the article I wrote on the prayer jar here.
3. Projects and dreams
Even though I am in the busiest and most active season of my life, I am so thankful to have my hands full. I can’t even tell you how many projects I am handling right now, but when I say I am loving each one of them, I am loving each one of them:) As God restores me, He continues to open doors after doors after doors. Here’s to many more projects and dreams come true!
4. Mentors and PhD Supervisors
The biggest project I am managing right now is my PhD Project! My research is so exciting, and I am learning and growing intellectually through it. Even though I am often unforgiving of myself because I don’t feel as productive as I should on it every day, I still am thankful to see this dream come true and to grow through it. I am more than anything else thankful for my 2 amazing co-supervisors. They are both HEAVEN sent! I prayed for them, and I was sent more than I could have imagined. I too am thankful for my other life and spiritual mentors who continue to push me to greatness. They encourage me, they admonish me, and they remind me of my truth when I need it the most. Because of all of them, I wish nothing more than to be a great mentor to others.
5. Formation of new habits
I can’t believe I am even writing this, but I am soooo very thankful for the formation of new habits. Even though I like to change things up here and there, I have also come to accept a boring truth about myself, which is that in this season, I must become a creature of habit. I like going to bed around the same time, waking up around the same time, leaving my house around the same time, getting to work around the same time. As restrictive as that sounds, I find that I am much more effective with my time this way. And in this season where I need as much time as possible, I find that routine gives me a familiarity that I need as I hustle to manage all my work:)
Finally, even though this is one is not “formally” on the list, I too am thankful for GLIMPSES OF SPRING TIME!!!!!
And you? What are you thankful for from the month of March? Would love to hear your thoughts!
