“I am not afraid to try it on my own. I don’t care if I’m right or wrong. I will live my life the way that I feel, no matter what, I’m gonna keep it real.”
“I look to you, I look to you. After ALL my strength is gone, in YOU I can be strong.”
She was American’s Sweetheart as well as the World’s Princess of Pop! A beautiful woman with a voice of an angel; empowering to say the least. She sang with an evidence of poise and grace of persona than has ever been seen before. A woman, who in all her class, and with such a voice commanded ALWAYS the stage and respect of her audience members and musicians alike. My Whitney Houston favorite of all time, “Try it on my Own.” Heartbreak, defeat, doubt plus the glorious melody of “Try it On my Own” has always for me been a formula and a reminder that no matter what happens, with life’s ups and downs, with questions of loyalty, doubt about success, I can nonetheless always triumph and still make it on my own or at least TRY. Yes, “I am wiser now, I am not the foolish girl you used to know, so long ago. I’m stronger now, I’ve learned from my mistakes which way to go.” At the end of the day, I can NEVER be afraid to live the life that I want to live, the life I have been chosen to lead. I have to find all the strength within me, seek for guidance, and really do it on my own. I have to try and have to live.
Of course, I cannot forget the AMAZING, inspirational, emotional song, I Look to You. Even when I am “about to lose my breath, there is no more fighting left, sinking to rise no more, searching for that open door, I LOOK TO YOU.” What a beautiful reminder of the ever loving presence of God even when we say, I have nothing else to live for but will just keep looking to you. RIP in heavenly peace Whitney. Your songs will remain on our hearts and the hearts of those who will come after us.
