I absolutely cannot believe that I have not featured this video on this blog, nor can I believe that I have not talked about the delish-ouness that is the work of Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. She is absolutely my favorite author, one of the great story tellers of our time, and is herself a feminist:) A Nigerian born Novelist and true daughter of Africa, Ms. Adichie is an ambitious writer who so coherently captures the heart, the diversity and heterogenousness that is the African experience. Perfectly described by the GREAT Chinua Achebe as a  writer “endowed with the gift of ancient storytellers” Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie is in all her works intuitive, inspirational, exploratory, passionate, heartfelt and interesting. Check out any of her books and I promise, you will not be disappointed. The video below is a small sample of what she does. I watch this video every couple of months because of the important reminders in its message. Ms. Adichie, in her talk, captures the essence of my interests and research (another days topic) as she discusses the danger in the assumed single story of the African exprience. Her speech is about the power in representation or misrepresentation and how that power has the ability to distort, to erase, to exclude, and to kill the stories of many different people. Enjoy:)
