マイケル・デウィック（1957-）はニューヨーク州生まれ。長年広告業界で活躍した後、40代で写真家に転身。ロングアイランドの漁村モントークの消え行く地元サーフィン文化をドキュメントした「The End: Montauk, N.Y.（ジ・エンド・モントーク、N.Y.）」シリーズで2002年にデビューします。
2004 年に刊行された同名の写真集は発売後わずか数週間で 5000 部を完売したという伝説の写真集です。

出品商品である10周年記念 増補版は2004年のオリジナルが忠実に再現されて制作されています。中身は約50ページ増えるとともに、未発表約85点が追加収録されています。また作家本人とともに、彼の友人のピーター・ビアードによる新たなエッセーも収録された普及版となります。
