International Women’s Day Collaboration with UN Human Rights

Happy Happy International Women’s Day!

I very much love the month of March for being women’s history month, and for being the month in which we celebrate the women’s rights movement. 41 years ago, during the 1975 International Women’s Year, International Women’s Day was celebrated. Two years later, in 1977, March 8 was proclaimed the UN Day for women’s rights and world peace.

Today is a beautiful day to be a girl child,as we humbly celebrate the work of our foremothers.

Today is too a beautiful day as we get to think about the future of women’s empowerment and gender equality as well as re-evaluate and strategize on where we need to go and how to get there.

The conditions of the world indicate that, even in 2017, there’s still so much work to be done, to ensure that all women walk in the rights they were created to fully exercise! That work requires that each one of us, men and women alike, stand together; that we rally to create the world that treats and accepts men and women as equals; and that we don’t stop, until every girl and boy, in the world, are socially and economically self empowered to live the lives of their dreams!

As we today commemorate and celebrate International Women’s Day, I want to share with y’all this special and exciting video. A collaborative effort between The Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, myself, and other young activists, we present to you International Women’s Day Video!

Again, Happy International Women’s Day! Enjoy the video, express your comments and share with your friends!
