Unraveling the Mind

How Do You Imagine and Reimagine Your Possibility of Being Great?

fullsizerender

I remember that night so vividly and so very clearly.  I had spent weeks upon weeks preparing for it!

As butterflies raced in my stomach, my mind and body anxious as to how the night would unravel,  I studied and I practiced, and I practiced and I studied.

That night presented the greatest opportunity for me, as for the first time in my young speaking and intellectual career, I would, in a public forum, sit and engage with the world’s sharpest minds on youth empowerment and economic development in Africa. Not only would I sit amongst the movers and shakers of economic development in Africa, but it would be me, who would direct the conversation. I would be the one to serve as the moderator; what a challenge, what an honor, what a great moment of growth.

That night was one of the greatest nights of my life! With every word that I spoke, and every comment that came to me that night, I was assured over and over again of my purpose to use my voice to speak on issues that matter the most to our world; to speak on, address, and confront issues that perpetuate injustice. That night, I was happy to  have answered the call of God, I was happy and humbled to know that God uses people and circumstances to gently and lovingly reveal us, who He has created us to be.

Now, five months since that great evening, I am reflective as to why different opportunities are presented to us, at particular moments in time. Five months since that great evening, I am assured more than ever that there is no such as a coincidence. Experience is the greatest teacher, which reveals to us hidden truths that we ought to always carry along. Moments carry a lot of power that through their memories permit us to imagine and reimagine meanings and other greater possibilities.

I often share on this blog that it’s easy for us to forget who we are, and what we are here to do, when we get so easily caught up in the hustle and bustle of life. As a result of the capitalist and productive nature of the world in which live, we can focus so much on making it day in and day out, that we forget to look at the bigger picture, and forget to imagine and reimagine even greater possibilities for our lives!

Like I shared in this video blog just a couple of days ago, the truth is that in losing our perspective on our purpose, we lose who are.  In losing who we are, we live a life that is infused with doing without meaning; a life that is dull, monotonous and uninspired, a life that is drained of all the endless possibilities for us to be greater than great. However, in imagining and reimagining possibilities, in being reflective about the moments that make us feel the most empowered, and in acquiring daily practices that push us to be better and to do better, we consciously maintain a sense of mission that pushes to see all that which life has to offer!

I share this with you today, to remind you to  keep imagining and reimagining the life where you are your very best self. I share this with you to remind you and to remind myself to keep pushing, and to keep reflecting on everything AMAZING and EMPOWERING that has shaped your life. Because I need to keep up with my mission to speak and to inspire, I spent sometime imagining a moment in time when I felt like I was doing exactly which I was born to do. That great moment as the embodiment of my purpose, pushes me to create the kind of life that will be infused with many moments as that! Therefore in imagining and reimagining possibilities, I chose to create habits that keep me this reflective, and I chose to keep my mind focused on daily practices that are going to shape me into the woman that I was created to be.

So let me ask you this afternoon, my dearest readers, how do you personally imagine and reimagine your possibility of being great? What sorts of daily practices have you implemented or do you plan on implementing?

It really is one of the very best feelings in the world. When you are doing exactly what you were created to do, everything about you comes together it a way that is so clear and makes sense. I just bless God for the opportunity to live that I encourage others to seek for it:)
